New nRF52832 sensor connecting to a Gateway MDBT40 Raytac module Nordic nRF51822

Hi,

We have a gateway device that contains the nRF51822 MDBT40 Raytac module.

We are designing a new nRF52832 based sensor and we want to connect 20 of them to the Gateway module. Is this possible with the gateway being BLE4.1 ?

Also, for the next generation gateway, we will design in nRF52832  and in that case, how many connections will be be able to concurrently make to the gateway ?

We are looking for:

- 1 gateway per 20 nodes.

- each end node communicate to the gateway every second

thanks,

Adrian

  • Hi.

This depends on which Softdevice version the gateway is using.

The current gateway is based on the nRF51822. If it's using our Softdevice, we don't have any softdevices for the nRF51-series that supports 20 concurrent connections.
As you can see in the specification, the S130 Softdevice supports up to 8 concurrent connections.

As for the next generation, based on the nRF52832, using the S132 Softdevice you will be able to achieve the 20 concurrent connections mark.
We do not have support for more than 20 concurrent connections.

    Best regards,
