it is possible to test MQTT without NB-IoT/LTE CAT M1 Network ?(means using some external hardware)

Hi all

We are using nRF9160 DK & want to test its MQTT library by uploading some data to the broker.
But, my city doesn't have LTE Cat-M1 / NB-IoT network.

Can you suggest us some setup (external hardwares / modules), by which, we can test nRF9160's

MQTT library, without the said network?

  • Hi Jaydip,
Are you not able to get a R&S CMW500 or another kind of wide-band radio communication tester?

What I meant by my last suggestion is to have the nrf91DK hooked up to a computer in an area where there is LTE-M or Nb-Iot support, then you could just connect from another place remotely via e.g. SSH or "Remote Desktop connection".

  • Hi Martin

Sorry to say that for now, we don't have any resource for communication tester where we can test our DK.

Also testing network where this NBIoT is launched is very far from my place so that option is also not feasible for me.

I was wondering if I can use any other external sources of the internet say for example BLE or WiFi modules, will that be helpful for me to connect to our normal internet through which I can test sending some data over MQTT?

    Please share your feedback.

    Thanks in advance.
