NRF9160: Updating modem firmware with J-Link EDU

Hi!

I have bought the Thingy:91 and in user guide (on page 12) it says that the nRF91 DK should be used to update the modem firmware, further more, it seems like it is only the application firmware and the firmware for the nRF52840 that can be updated with a J-Link. So, Thingy:91 modem firmware with a J-Link is a no go? If so, do you need the nRF9160 DK for a custom design as well?

Hi Knalle,

It depends on which Hardware version of the J-Link EDU you are using.

Please see the following link and see if your device supports M33.

So if I get the J-Link EDU with hardware version 9 or 10 will I be able to update the modem firmware with that? The user guide only says that I should connect it to the nRF91 DK to do so. If you don't know, where do I find that information? I don't want to buy something if I can't use it.
