Digital I2S microphones that work with nRF52840 "out of the box"

I'm trying to interface 2 SPH0645 mics to the nRF52840 DK.

Little did I know when I bought them (the mics) that you need to waste 2 timers + 2 pins + memory space to make it work. (Didn't do my homework, shame on me)

Are there any I2S digital mics that work with an nRf52840 "out of the box" without a silly work around ?

We do not have any official recommendations, but might want to take a look at e.g. some of the 24-bit word length I2S InvenSense microphones. But you will of course need to do your own evaluation here. When it comes to the SPH0645, there are some incompatibilities due to the 32-bit word length. PDM microphones could also be an option, this is something we use in our Smart Remote 3 and Thingy:52 reference design. In the Smart Remote 3 design, we have support for echo/noise cancellation, and audio compression support using OPUS, BroadVoice and ADPCM.
