Compiling newlib and event manager causes compile errors

Seen on ncs v1.0.0. Adding "CONFIG_NEWLIB_LIBC=y" to the prf.conf and building the event_manager sample will replicate the error

Workaround was to comment out static_assert within event_manager.c and .h

I can't seem to replicate your error. Are you using the sample found in \ncs\nrf\samples\event_manager?

Yes this is ncs\nrf\samples\event_manager of v1.0.0.

To replicate I removed the build folder in this folder, added "CONFIG_NEWLIB_LIBC=y" to the prf.conf, opened up the project in ses 4.18a as nrf9160_pca10090ns and built.

I do know there is a newer version of ses out but haven't gotten around to upgrading yet

Hi again, this is a known bug (see here) and has been fixed on the master branch of the git repository. 

"static_assert is part of C11, so the problem is that it's added unconditionally in minimal libc, unlike in newlib where it's not exposed before C11."

Thanks, I'll make that patch on my side. Is there any plan to make another release of the SDK soon? I see the master branch has jumped ahead of 1.0.0 a bit and it probably has some other bug fixes
