Are there any projects or examples ready for the BL-651 laird bluetooth chip?

I wasn't able to find any documentation or examples for the BL-651 chip which is meant to run the same code as the NRF52 bluetooth chip.

I'm having trouble running it on the actual chip and bluetooth BLE connection keeps disconnecting without the ability to debug it or properly know what the problem is from.

I suggest you use an nRF52 DK, PCA10040, to debug the module, see Debug output.

The module is a copy of our reference design, though it lacks an on-board 32KHz crystal. If you've flashed the module with an example that uses the external LFXO then it will crash if your board does not have the crystal.

Where did you look?

As haakonsh says, I would strongly suggest that you start with a Nordic nRF52 Dev Kit to gain experience and understanding with the product & tools - and that will give you a debugger!

Once you're up to speed with the nRF52, then you will be in a position to move on to a 3rd-party module - and you can still use the Nordic kit's debugger to debug it!

Alternatively, speak to Laird to see if they have a dev kit and/or examples specifically for their module...

Note that the BL-651 is not a chip:  it is a module - which contains an nRF52832 chip.
