nRF9160 Modem drivers and libraries codes: Can they be compiled in Linux platform?

Hi,

I have nRF9160 DK. I downloaded nRFConnect SDK with source code.

I know that samples compiled with libraries are loaded and executed under MCU on the DK board. Since we are interfacing the modem through the vcom0 directly from a Linux Host, (we bypassed the connection to vcom0 from the on-board MCU),  I am wandering that whether or not these code (with zephyr tools)  can be compiled and built on Linux platform?

If so, please provide some guidelines or point me to some resources or references that can help me to do so.

Hi.

If I understand you correctly, you want to have an application running on Linux, using the nRF91 as a modem. Is that correct?

If so, we do not support that at the moment but are working on it.

Looking around in the NCS GitHub repo I found this pull request, which seems to be what you are looking for: https://github.com/NordicPlayground/fw-nrfconnect-nrf/pull/1099

I have not tried it, and as it has not yet been merged, you cannot expect much support, but you are free to try it out.
