Certification/Evaluation for product

Hi,

Our product uses Fanstel BM832 chip. As per https://www.bluetooth.com/develop-with-bluetooth/qualification-listing/qualification-listing-fees/, should we opt for Innovation Incentive Program (IIP) as a startup? I did not understand exactly what certifications/qualifications should our product have coz we are using your software stack. What happens if bluetooth trademark logos are not used? Since your chip is qualified, do we need to follow the qualification process?

Do we first need to apply for membership? - https://www.bluetooth.com/develop-with-bluetooth/join/membership-benefits/

then also pay for listing fee? - https://www.bluetooth.com/develop-with-bluetooth/qualification-listing/qualification-listing-fees/

which means 8k(adopter member: product listing fee) + 2.5k(declaration/listing fee - IIP)?

Thanks, your guidance will be highly appreciated.

  • Hello,

the Fanstel BM832 is listed as pre-certified 3rd party module, the full list is found here

Yes, the IIP seems correct if you are a start-up with less than one million in revenues and no prior product listings. More information can be found here

I did not understand exactly what certifications/qualifications should our product have coz we are using your software stack

In our Infocenter, you can find more information on certifications/qualifications. (Edit: Updated to correct link)

What happens if bluetooth trademark logos are not used?

Please see the Bluetooth SIG governing documents here.

Since your chip is qualified, do we need to follow the qualification process?

Please see this thread regarding certification on 3rd party modules.

Do we first need to apply for membership?

Yes, our customers are typical applying for the Adopter Membership.

then also pay for listing fee?

After applying for your membership, you may pay for the IIP listing fee as an adopter member.

which means 8k(adopter member: product listing fee) + 2.5k(declaration/listing fee - IIP)?

Yes, from what I can see, this is correct.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind
