Hello,
I tried using the Thingy:91 out-of-the-box, but didn't succeed, using a SIM (LTE-M/NB-IoT) of a local operator. I suppose this is possible?
Thanks.

Hi!
Using a local operator is possible, as long as the SIM card supports LTE-M or NB-IoT. It's also necessary to flash the correct firmware (the Thingy:91 comes ready with firmware that only supports LTE-M). I have attached all the firmware binaries (you can also find them here).
What did you try doing, that you didn't succeed in?
Best regards,
Heidi
Hi,
Thanks.
I just tried the "out-of-the-box" experience, but instead of using the iBasis eSIM using a SIM from a local operator. Normally I have LTE-M coverage at my location. With the iBasis eSIM it works.
I'll try with the firmware you sent.
Thanks.

Guy
Hi Heidi,
With the NB-IoT firmware binary I now can successfully connect. Thanks.
Flashing this firmware also erased the Asset Tracker app.
What do I need to have the asset tracker application run, with NB-IoT, on the Thingy:91?
Or should I use the same procedure as with my nRF9160 DK https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/cellular-iot-guides/b/getting-started-cellular/posts/getting-started-with-nrf9160-dk, compiling in Segger Studio and flashing the application firmware to the thingy:91 (the same way as I did for updating the modem firmware and NB-IoT firmware) using the 10 pin JTAG cable?
Best regards,
Guy
Yes, you can use the same procedure as with the DK, just make sure to build with the nrf9160_pca20035ns board, not pca10090. You can also found already built firmware binaries on the Thingy:91 page, and use the Programmer application in nRF Connect to flash them to your device.
That's what I already tried: flashing "thingy91_nbiot_legacy_pco_v0.2.2.hex" to the Thingy:91. However, when using the nrfcloud I don't see any measurements! Please see attached screenshot.
Thanks.

Okay, I understand. It looks like a few customers are currently having this problem and we are working on a fix. Hopefully I will have a solution for you on monday.
