Switch antenna connector

Hello,

I have used for my application the reference design of NRF52832.

The connector MURATA MM8130-2600 is used to have the choice between the PCB antenna and an external antenna.

But this switching connector is just compatible with measurment antenna which is very expensive.

Do you know a switching equivalent connector compatible with cheap bluetooth antenna connector? I have found IPEX and HIROSE connectors but they are not available with the common distributors.

Or do you recommand another solution to switch between a PCB antenna and an external antenna?

Hi,

 

MM8130-2600 is more a test connector and not suited for external antennas in an end product, cables do not sit very well attached. This is the only switching connector (except other similar in various sizes) we are aware of, it is expensive because it is a complex part.

IPEX/U.FL is more suited for external antennas in end products, they are available through common distributors. It does not have a built-in switch so you need to decide between PCB antenna and external antenna. For testing you can just cut the RF path and solder an open-ended coaxial cable on, or any coaxial connector.
