Erasing the board - Compiling and running a first example

In this link it says " 

Before you program an example, erase the contents of the board.

If no SoftDevice has been installed on the board, simply open Keil and select Flash > Erase.

If a SoftDevice has been installed on the board or if you are not sure, use nRFgo Studio to make sure that you erase the whole board. Select your device in the Device Manager pane. Then click the Erase All button. 

So why does it suggest nRFgo is softdevice installed ? Can not we erase it by Keil uLink2 or segger jlink ? Why do we need nRFgo Studio ? i could not find the reason for the suggestion.

Is it related with page protection or what ?

Hi. 

This documentation is actually outdated. 

nRFgo Studio is now deprecated and no longer supported. 

To program/erase you board, you can now use the nRF Programmer - which is a part of nRF Connect for desktop.
