Mechanical shock and vibrations tolerance (Nordic Thingy:91)

Hi

Is there a known limit for operational conditions regarding shock (max acceleration) and vibrations (frequency, acceleration and amplitude)?

I am asking because we are building a device that will operate in quite harsh conditions, and need to know how much (if any) damping we have to built into the system.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Janez

  • Hi Janez

The Thingy:91 is a prototyping platform, and not suited for very harsh conditions by itself. There have not been conducted any tests for these kinds of operating conditions, so you'll have to check out the operating conditions and absolute maximum ratings in the nRF9160 and nRF52840 product specifications to see what the chips themselves can handle. In any case, the Thingy:91 is not designed to be part of a final product, and should only be used for prototyping reasons.

    Best regards,

    Simon
