NRF9160 Get CE-level (ECL) for NB-IOT

Hi,

is there a possibility to check in waht CE-level (ECL0- ECL2) the modem is operating on? I know that the ECL is decided by the network and not the UE. However it must have an huge impact on the energy consumtion and therefore it is important for me to know on what level I am operating. I have found nothing in the Userguide or the nrf91-at-command specification to get the ECL. 

I'm working on a nrf9160 DK v0.8.3 and nrf Connect-SDK tag v0.4.0

Any help would be highly apprechiated.

Hi,

 

Unfortunately, there is no way of currently fetching the dynamic power level your device is operating with. As you mention, this is dynamically set by the network, based on the signal strength.

do you know if this feature will come in the future? I have read papers about NB-IOT where the autors mention the ECL of their devices, so there must be a way to find out in principal? They work with different hardware I suppose.

Since it's now 11 months from your answer and the modem fw as been improved i wounder if there is an update in this ECL level readout functionality?

Thank you for the hint! Is there an example, how to read out the CE-Level on the nRF9160 and e.g. send it to the cloud?
