How to test Thingy-91 with NB-IoT/LTE-M in Poland?

Hello,

I would like to evaluate nRF9160 for incoming project.

I have Nordic Thingy:91 with iBasis sim card.

Unfortunately, during configuration it turned out, that iBasis is not working in my country.

How can I use Nordic Thingy 91 with NB-IoT/LTE-M in Poland?

Can you recommend alternative for iBasis?

  • Buy a T-Mobile prepaid starter for 5PLN and enjoy :)

Note that T-Mobile provides only NB-IoT, not LTE-M.

  • Thanks.
I've bought it, then I've changed firmware to thingy91_nbiot_v0.2.2.bin, but still have some problems.
In nRF Connect Link Monitor LTE status is searching and cannot register.
    How to make it work?

    Logs:

  • You need to update your modem FW to version which is included in the package as well:

The current version on your board (mfw_nrf9160_1.0.0) has had some issues fixed in the newest version (mfw_nrf9160_1.0.1)

Download the nRF Connect for Desktop and install the Programmer app. In this, you can use the "update modem" button on the right-hand side.

  • I guess the only way to do modem FW update is to use external programmer?
There is no DFU via USB?

  • There's a button in the programmer app. (On the right panel, bottom) - you don't need anything more.

Seems that T-Mobile blocked the "internet" APN access from NB-IoT network...

I have the same struggle here. You can contact T-Mobile for a private offer to get the IoT access... That's the only Network which has the infrastructure there...
