advertising not working on module

Hi,

Currently, I have a problem that I can not see the device on the nRFConnnect application when my firmware is running on the board that has only ISP1507_AL module based on nRF52810. I can see through the power consumption of the module advertising current peaks exists, but I can not see the device on my mobile device.

Is there any way to know why is this happening?

Best regards,
Voja

  • Hi,

    More information would be valuable.

Do you have a graph, image or screenshot of the power consumption? Similar looking patterns may be something else than advertising.

Have you tested different tools, e.g. nRF Connect for Desktop?

Which version of nRF Connect, and on what device are you running it?

Do you see this behavior with an example from the SDK, or is it a custom project or modified SDK example? (Modified beyond different board file, that is.)

    What SDK and version?

    What SoftDevice and version?

    Regards,
    Terje

  • Hi Terje,

I was able to find another board with the same module, and the advertising is working on that board, so I suppose it is something wrong with the hardware. Tomorrow I will have new boards and I will confirm my assumption and close the ticket.
It is realy strange, and I can not understand what happened to the module. I know that the MCU is working and I am just not seeing the device advertising messages...

    Best regards,
    Voja.

  • Hi,

Issue with the board sounds likely then, yes. May be bad antenna matching or connection, may be issue with oscillator, may be bad PCB layout. With RF devices it is always important to follow the reference layout closely. For instance any metal in proximity to antenna and RF lines, quality of ground plane, capacitors on voltage sources, etc. affects radio properties.

  • Hi, everything is working on new devices, and I do not know why it had a problem. I am sure there is no RF problem because the module is closed and the RF part is inside.

Anyway, thank you for your support.

    Best regards,
    Voja.
