Best way to use multiple nRF52832 on the same PCB?

Specifically, can you provide any guidelines for sharing the clock or crystal? and maybe the antenna? (in case of RX only)

  • If you want to use RX only, it's possible to share the crystal and the antenna between the devices. But you can't transmit with any them without loosing the reception.

Connect XC2 from one device to XC1 on the other devices. Make sure the HFXO is always running on the master. You can also use a crystal oscillator module and connect this to XC1 on all devices. Make sure this a type that doesn't have a PLL as the phase noise will be too great. It usually says "programmable" in the datasheet in that case. It must be a proper crystal.

If you share the antenna with a splitter, note that you will loose 3 dB pr 2 outputs. If you have a 2 way splitter, each output will have 3 dB "loss". With a way, 6 dB "loss" etc.
