Hi,
I have finished developing our product that uses the nRF52810 (in a Laird BL651 module), and the S112 6.1.1 Soft Device. Our design doesn't use any of the optional BLE Profiles. I am starting the process of getting a Declaration ID for the Bluetooth SIG, but I am confused about how to proceed for this case.
As background, I've learned that the Laird BL651 module only has QDID 117616, for Low Energy RF PHY, and is listed as a "Component (Tested)" on 2018-08-30. From what I've been reading, since it is listed as a "Component (tested)" instead of a "Subsystem" or "End Product" I may be required to perform some testing. But I saw one place that testing may be exempted because it has been qualified less than 3 years ago.
I am seeing the following possible paths, and I am hoping someone with more experience could help point me in the right direction.
1) Combine the Larid BL651 QDID 117616, with Nordic's Link Layer QDID 123746 and Host QDID 125039, all of which are "Component (tested)". I assume I would need to file as a design that "requires testing", but hope that since all components have been qualified less than 3 years ago, all testing can be exempt. I'm concerned that if some testing is required, my inexperience would cause huge delays to our product launch.
2) Is it possible to just use Nordic's QDID 125078 for an "End Product" with description "nRF52810 with S112 v6.1.1"? Since it is an End Product, I wouldn't risk needing to do any testing (which I have zero experience with). However, I'm not sure if I can claim the the RF PHY portion has been "unchanged" by Laird, but since it is just a nRF52810 with trace antenna, maybe it is close enough?
(FYI, we've performed all required FCC testing, at a certified EMC test lab)
I appreciate any feedback/guidance you can give.
Thanks! - Robbie
