Query related to FCC, Telec certification for nRF52840 module.

Hi,

We are a module manufacturer. We are making modules based on WLCSP, QFN based nRF52840 SoC.

Can you please provide software(preferably GUI) available for module FCC, Telec RF certification?

It should be suitable for any tester device that our customers can test easily.

Thanks

Sridhar

  • Hi,

We have radio test example and DTM. Radio test example is CLI based, DTM is designed to be used against a BLE tester, but you can use nRFgo Studio to initiate basic tests. nRFgo Studio is not regularly maintained and does not support e.g. 2Mbps, coded PHY etc., we are hoping to have a replacement for this in the near future.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  • 1. May I know by when we can get the updated nRFGo Studio?

    2. Also what procedure did you follow to certify RF?

    3. If we use radio test example with spectrum analyzer, how receive path is verified?

  • Hi,

    1. I do not have a date unfortunately.
    2. We typically use the radio test example for regulatory tests and DTM for Bluetooth qualification tests.
    3. You can not. In order to verify the receiver you need to use a wireless tester or bluetooth tester, probably using DTM as that is standardized and supported in e.g. R&S CMW, Anritsu MT8852b. If you accept a little less accurate verification you can try to use a nRF5x DK and the radio test example.

  • Hi,

When I use radio_test example, can I capture those packets in nRF sniffer?

If yes, what is the parameters set?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I am not overly familiar with nRF Sniffer, but I doubt that. nRF Sniffer is developed for Bluetooth, and radio test example, while using the same modulation, is not sending bluetooth compatible packets. You can try of course, use the BLE 1Mbps mode.

If you want to verify if the example is working or not you can use the RSSI Viewer app in nRF Connect for Desktop as a makeshift spectrum analyzer.
