Error Connecting Thingy91 to Cloud

Hi,

after I received the thingy91 I wanted to connect it to the cloud, as mentioned in the get started.

But when I want to add the LTE Device, it shows the following Error:

"There was an error adding your device: No device found with id 'nrf-352656100748683'. Verify you are passing a valid device id and not a device name. Also ensure that your device is powered on and its LED(s) indicate that it is connected to nRFCloud. If the LED(s) do not indicate a connection, there may be a problem with your device certificate. In that case, search Nordic DevZone for "certificate update" for a possible solution."

I have already looked at the IMEI: It is correct.

The LED on the thingy is blinking blue. But the interesting thing is, that it blinks blue when a Sim Card is in the device and also when no Sim Card is in the device.

Here you can see the failure window oncemore:

Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Many thanks in advance.

  • Hi!

It looks like your device has not connected to nRF Cloud, which it has to do before you are able to add the device. Depending on which version of the Thingy:91 you have, the meaning of the color of the LED will vary but most likely the color will turn orange when you are connected.

Edit: it will turn from blue to green when you are connected to nRF Cloud.

I recommend just letting the device sit, turned on, for up to an hour and see if it connects to the network.

If this doesn't work, double-check that your SIM card has support for LTE-M. If you want to connect to NB-IoT you have to flash the NB-IoT .hex file found on the Nordic webpage here under "Firmware for the Thingy:91". And check that there is support for either LTE-M or NB_IoT where you are located.

If you still can't connect, please open LTE Link Monitor in nRF Connect while trying to connect. Then, after it fails, provide me with the log file by pressing this button.

    Best regards,

    Heidi
