Upgrade to Modem firmware v1.1 via FOTA or bootload?

Hello,

We currently have several devices out in the field as test units, installed at beta sites.  The new modem firmware v1.1 has several features/fixes that we want to take advantage of and continue our field testing with.   

It is true the the only way to update to this version is via a JTAG connection?  It was our understanding that v1.0.1 was a production ready firmware that had been certified on Verizon and it supported FOTA for modem firmware updates.  We are able to update our application via FOTA, but need to be able to update the modem as well.

Hi Josh,

The Modem Firmware version number has the following setup:

Modem Version number structure: a.b.c

• • a = Major version
  • b = Minor version
  • c = Bug fix number

• Bugfix number = Bugfix release 
• Minor Version = Feature Release 
• Major Version = Feature Release

• "Bugfix releases" to each "Feature release" can be done via FOTA.
• It is not possible to move from one "Feature release" to next one via FOTA

 

e.g.

Modem FOTA:

YES: 1.0.0-> 1.0.1 -> 1.0.2

YES: 1.1.0-> 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2

NO:  1.0.X->1.1.X

NO:  1.0.0->1.0.2
