Bluetooth 5.1

Hi. I have a question about Bluetooth 5.1. I just want to know what the main difference is between a Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth 5.1 chip.

Is it the hardware or software that enables the transmission of the CTE packets. I have tried looking at the Product Specifications of Bluetooth 5.1 SoCs and it still isn't clear to me.

The HW has to support CTE. Currently, only the nRF52811 and the nRF52833 can do this.

Thanks for that. I have another question.

I have seen that the nRF52840 DK mentions in its product brief that it can support nRF52811. However the product brief does not specify that the nRF52840 DK has bluetooth 5.1 available. 

How am I supposed to use the nRF52811 SoC in the nRF52840 DK?

Depends on what you want to do. The only BT 5.1 feature that only the nRF52811 and nRF52833 supports is CTE for direction finding. Everything else is the same.
