PM, FDS and flash wear

Hey everyone!

How often does PM write into FDS? On each connection? Or on each new bonding?

PM has some kind of peer ranking so I suppose that it needs to write on each connection.

Flash endurance is rated as 10'000 write/erase cycles.

So the question is how many connections/bondings the flash will survive?

  • Hi,

This isn't as straightforward as you would think. There isn't an exact answer on how many connections the flash will survive, as it is dependent on several parameters. The Peer manager use the Flash data storage module that has features such as basic wear leveling and minimization of flash operations by using data invalidation. Both of these features are meant to prolong the longevity of the flash. I don't really see a necessity for a concern on the longevity of the flash when using the Peer manager.
