When using the UART on the N548, can it be used to communicate with the BLE?

I am using the N548 with the S310 soft device. I have set up the device for asynchronous communication via the UART. I can send ANT+ commands via the UART and I get valid responses. What is the best way to send data to the N548 to control the ble? Can I use the same UART? Do I have to write application code to do this? I have looked at the ant_ble_app_hrm. I don't see any example of external communication.

There's no default code for making the S310 example working with external MCU. The intention was to have everything running on the nRF51422 and no need for external MCU. We do have code to show how to serialize the S110 softdevice. This is the BLE peripheral only softdevice. This serialization code enable you to takl to the stack through UART. Since the S310 is basically a combination of S210 (ANT) and S110 (BLE) you could have a look at the serialization code for S110 and potentially re-use it for your S310 based application.
