ESD Protection Housing for nRF52832

Hello,

Im designing a board with nRF52832 with acceleration sensor and BLE application, so for the esd protection, should there be an housing of some sort, what all can be done for this purpose? Im new to this and might need a bit more detail description.

  • Hi,

I am not so sure what you mean with an ESD housing...

But if you are powering your device via an USB connector I recommend you add an ESD protection diode (e.g. we use part PRTR5V0U2X) as we do in the nRF52 DK and also the nRF52840 dongle. You can download the hardware files for both reference design from the product pages I linked to, under the 'Downloads' tab.

There are also some other general PCB design guidelines which ensure good ESD protection, which includes having a good ground plane and reducing line lengths, take a look for example here.

    Best regards,
