When I call idle_state_handle() , a sudden surge current of 60 ~ 90 uA will appear.

I use nRF5_SDK_15.0.0

My soc is NRF52832,project is based on ble_peripheral  ble_app_blinky.

After I call idle_state_handle() let my device go to sleeping.

Sleep current is about 3uA.

But a sudden surge current of 60 ~ 90 uA will appear,increase my average sleep current to 5uA~6uA.

I am sure ble advertisement is stop,and not other my application peripheral event in sleep

I  use debug mode for test not event occur in sleep .

1.My  device is sleeping.(after call idle_state_handle() )

2.Set breakout point in idle_state_handle();

3.Not breakout occur util I use button let my device wake up .

How does this surge current occur?

Hi, it's hard to tell what is going on here without knowing what the application does. If you can post a hex file that I can run here on a DK, I can measure the current using a power analyzer, then it's easier to see what is going on.

When device BLE advertisement ,LED1 start blink.

When device BLE advertisement and voltag<2.2 ,LED2 blink.

After BLE advertisement 10s ,device go to sleep

When click button 1 or 2 ,device wake up and start BLE advertisement

When the device stops advertising there's LFRC clock calibration every 4s. I guess that is what you are seeing. The clock calibration takes 16ms.

The calibration uses 10uC of charge, and a calibration interval of 4 seconds gives you 2.5uA extra in average. Which seems to fit well with your observations.

You have two choices:

1. Use LFXO instead (external LF crystal)

2. Turn off calibration after advertising stops.

Hi, the calibration is controlled automatically through the softdevice, so you will have to de-initialize the softdevice if you want the calibration to stop.
