nRF connect buttons greyed out, working with nRF52840DK.

After nRF52840DK is flashed with open bootloader project through J-link (usb port J2 on the short side of the board), nRF connect is showing the following interface when connected through usb port J3.

As you can see the few buttons like "erase all" are greyed out.

Can anyone help on this issue? Thanks.

  • What are the switches on your DK set to? Please make sure the following switches are in these positions:

    • VEXT->nRF (SW10) is set to off
    • nRF power source (SW9) is set to VDD
    • nRF ONLY | DEFAULT (SW6) is set to DEFAULT

    Have you cut or soldered any solder bridges on the board after getting it? You can also try reapplying the MCU firmware to the debugger, in case that it has been erased somehow. Does the JLink window pop up when you connect it to the computer and power it on? If so, you should be able to drag and drop the MCU firmware file (downloadable here) to the drive that opens when you power up the DK in order to get the standard firmware back onto the debugger MCU.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • I have all the switches in the right place as you have suggested, Jlink also pops up as a thumb drive. I don't none solve the nRF connect problem. But as we have alternative ways to download hex (segger, drop MCU firmware etc) i am going to flag this post as answered and solved.
