Unable to Store APN

Hi,

I have nRF9160DK and Thingy:91.
I want to store APN configurations in the modem but I can't save the APN.

Currently, I am giving the APN information manually every time with the command "AT+CGDCONT=0,"IP","nbiot" ".
Storing with "AT+CFUN=0" is not working for both device.

I am using latest modem firmware.

How can you help me?

Regards,
AliRıza

  • Hi.

First of all, are you sure that your SIM card and subscription support NB-IoT, that there is NB-IoT coverage in your area, and that the APN is correct?

Also, are you certain that you have to set the APN manually? The modem usually gets the APN from the network.

    Best regards,

    Didrik

  • Hi,

I am already using this sim card with NB-IoT network.
After I send "AT+CGDCONT=0,"IP","nbiot" "command, I get an IP and I can access to AWS.
I am sure I have NB-IoT coverage in my area because I can get IP when I send the the command.
I contacted my cell provider and they said they don't support automatic APN for NB-IoT network right now.

Sorry, but I could not understand how those are related with my problem?

    Kind Regards,

  • My apologies. I thought you were not able to connect to the network and was trying to set the APN as an attempt to connect.

Try to set the cid to something other than 0. That should let you store it in flash.

    Best regards,

    Didrik

  • Thanks for your help but this solution didn't work for me.

I still can't store it. Am I doing something wrong?

  • I have had a talk with the modem team, and they have informed me that the modem does not support storing the APN.

Instead, they recommend you send it from the application at startup.
