Suddenly I can't active a free license for the nRF52840

To demonstrate installing the tools for my client I'm going through the process first, on a fresh machine.

Installed SES & invoked it. Got a free license & installed it. Opened up my nRF52840 project - and it still complained there is not commercial license found. Searched the forum and there is a consensus that opening a nordic project from "examples" will help. Alas, it does not. Opening any project SES complains about no license. It will happily build the project if I just say "continue".

Thoughts? I've installed these tools at least a dozen times and this is the first time I'm seeing this.

Using SDK 16.0.0 if that matters.

  • Hi,

    Go to https://license.segger.com/Nordic.cgi

Fill in the form. (The MAC field is the MAC address of the network card on your computer, also known as "physical address". Usually, you can find that through control panel or similar. Find the settings for the network card and "view details" or similar.)

Follow the instructions. (You will receive an email from Segger with an activation key, that you enter in the License Manager within Segger Embedded Studio.)

Please also check with the license status of the License Manager within Segger Embedded Studio.
