Updating firmware via USB

Hi,

My Thingy 91 wouldn't connect so I tried to update the firmware. However, I seem to have a different hardware version to what is described on pages like https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/cellular-iot-guides/b/getting-started-cellular/posts/thingy91_2d00_fw_2d00_update_2d00_mcuboot in that my device doesn't have the smaller switch (it only has a large black one on the top left of the nRF9160). Currently I can't get the device to seem to boot at all despite trying a few different firmware versions and download types. I'm turning on the device while holding down the button and then trying to load the "thingy91_ltem_dfu_2019-11-29_d3130d77.hex" file via the nRF Connect Programmer app but I can't get the device to boot again after the firmware is downloaded.  Please let me know of any tips you could suggest.

Thanks,

Adam

  • It seems I am facing same issue. I have a Thingy 91 PCA20035 board with version 1.0.2 and below it says 2020.13. Do I still need to use the command line for programming thingy 91 or can it use nrf connect programmer app? Right now when I tried using programmer app, its not recognising the device and continue to say "No device available". Tried turning the board on and off with SW3 pressed but didn't detect the device.
