AT_CLIENT Returning Error

I'm running the at_client project one of our custom boards and am able to see the "AT host sample started" message, but it only responds to the first "AT" I sent. Any commands I enter after that return an ERROR;

The same firmware on the PCA10090 works fine and I am able to issue AT commands. The problem board also has no problems running code that makes use of the modem for LTE/GPS.
