Get ICCID without connecting to tower

Is there a guarantee that I can do something like:

at+cfun=1;+cfun=44

and the nRF9160 will *not* start connecting to a tower? I would like to be able to interface with the SIM without having to start trying to connect to the network, as that impacts certifications.

If I do at+cereg=5 prior to running that, I only see a +CEREG: 0 notification, indicating the device isn't trying to register and -- since there wasn't any +CEREG: 2 -- never started the process. Is that the case?

Hi.

As you mention, you can have the SIM active without connecting to LTE using CFUN=44.

However, I will have to ask the modem team regarding your question of whether we can guarantee that we will not initiate a network attach before you are able to issue CFUN=44.

The modem team is "pretty sure" that the transmitter will not be turned on if you send the two AT commands "within a second or so".

The next feature release of the modem firmware will have better support for getting information from the SIM card without also turning on all LTE functionality.
