nRF9160 doubts

Hi

I'm reading the documentation and I have some doubts about the nRF9160 board.

So, the board is divided into the micro controller nRF9160 SiP ( https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fstruct_nrf91%2Fstruct%2Fnrf9160.html&cp=2_0 ) and the microprocessor nRF52840 SoC, where System-in-Package is different from System-On-Chip.

But here (https://www.nordicsemi.com/-/media/Software-and-other-downloads/Product-Briefs/nRF9160-DK-product-brief.pdf?la=en&hash=C37A8EFD5E8CB6DC82F79F81EC22E1473E6447E7)  under nRF9160 SiP the image is showing a nRF91 SoC and I'm getting confused about that "SoC". So the nRF9160 is divided within 2 Socs? Or one SiP and one SoC

Hi.

The nRF9160 consists of 1 SiP and nothing more.

However, on the nRF91 DK, there is also an nRF52840 SoC that is used as a "board controller". It controls a set of switches on the DK that routes pins from the nRF9160 to either the headers or other functions. You can also use the nRF52840 to add Bluetooth functionality to your application.
