[Embedded World 2020, Nuremberg] Alternative eSIM setup for non-supported countries by iBasis

Hi Support,

I need to use another eSIM not the iBasis, because the company those not have roaming coverage in Bulgaria.

Question: If I use a IoT eSIM card Telefonica Germany, what eSIM cards details need - SIM ICCID and PUK code? Is this enough for a new SIM registration on NRF Cloud service?

If you have other sims than the bundeled iBasis you do not need to activate the sim at nRFcloud.

I need first to an active eSIM to the feeds of data from the sensors into the nrf cloud through the nrf APIs.
What are the other options to get the sensors data?

Can I add an eSIM as a LTE device?

@redshifter you don't need to add the SIM to nRF Connect for Cloud to see you device' data on there. It is sufficient to add your device in the the next step (click "Skip this step" on the SIM screen).

Adding the iBasis SIM to nRF Connect for Cloud is optional and helpful if you want to monitor traffic per device. Right now this is only supported for iBasis SIMs.

At the Embedded World 2020 in Nuremberg last week someone from Nordic told you that the support Bluetooth in Thingy:91 is still NOT ready.
Q: Should I purchase another Nordic dev. board for prototyping and if so, what is the list of devices and cables for a full starting kit for LTE-M for example?

The nRF9160 DK has a on-board debugger, and is recommended if you want to do development and prototyping. If you want to use the on-board debugger on the nRF9160-DK to debug the Thingy:91, you'll need a 10-pin cable to connect from the "DEBUG OUT" port of the nRF9160-DK to the thingy:91, similar to this:

Hi Sigurd, only the secondary question about the developer board setup was answered.
I still don't understand how to track the sensor data (temp, humidity & VoS - gas) & GPS location without an eSIM card. I can I see the sensor data & GPS location by the debugger?

just means, that "nRF Connect for Cloud" doesn't require your SIM being registered to receive data. But, for sure, your device (nRF9160) requires a SIM to connect to your mobile provider and so send data to "nRF Connect for Cloud". But you can use any SIM from your mobile provider supports and you don't need to register that SIM at "nRF Connect for Cloud".

AFAIK, that "mini" has no "voltage-level-shifter", so I guess, it can not be used, though the nRF9160 requires 1.8V and not the supported 3.3V.

(And the EDU*s are for no commercial use only :-) ).
