Wake up radio

To the kind attention of Nordic support team,

I was reading this blog https://www.ericsson.com/en/blog/2017/12/wake-up-radio--a-key-component-of-iot

May I ask if Nordic is interested in adding this hardware feature?

Do you think a behavior like this could be successfully implemented using acoustic wake up receiver?

I've read up about mems microphones used to generate patterns that are recognized from a low frequency low power wake up device,

so that it can wake up main micro. I hope my question is not inconvenient, I would really appreciate an opinion on this issue from your experts.

Thank you for your attention and your work,

Best regards

  • Hi,

We can not share any details about future products or features here unfortunately, you need to contact the Nordic Sales Manager handling your region. Also note that the blog you are referring to IEEE 802.11, which Nordic does not provide solutions for.

The principle should be possible to leverage though, you just need to find or make an acoustic microphone,  receiver or system that can provide an interrupt to the nRF52. To my knowledge we do not have any experience with this though.

    Best regards,

    Andreas
