nRF8001 'hello world' example fails to broadcast to the Android Master Control Panel app

I have the nRF8001 plugged into the shield for the Arduino Uno.

From the Arduino SDK from Nordic, I have downloaded the BLE Hello World program to the Arduino, which should perform the setup and configuration for the nRF8001.

After it successfully compiles and is running, I search using the Android Nordic BLE Master Control Panel and it consistently shows that nothing is broadcasting. Can anyone help me get past this?
