S140 7.0.1 500kbps coded PHY support

I have seen a few references to SoftDevice in the 6.x series not being able to transmit at 500kbps in these forums, but I can't find anything in the docs to reference. Can someone confirm (officially or via some documentation link) that this is still true in s140 7.0.1? Does it still only support 125kbps coded PHY?

  • Hi

The release notes of the latest SoftDevice version (7.0.1) does not mention any updates regarding the 500kbps mode. This means that the status is still the same. The nRF52840 is able to receive in both 125kbps and 500kbps mode but is only able to transmit at 125kbps.

If you need more details on if/when this will be available, please contact the RSM of your area. If you don't have their contact information, please say so, and I will help you get in touch.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Thanks, Simon. For my own part, I don't need anything other than to confirm what the SoftDevice is doing. Our preference is range and so 125kbps is desired. But it's not explicitly clear from the docs how we ensure we are achieving that (without busting out the RF equipment). If I could make a suggestion it would be to insert this explictly somewhere in the documentation to resolve the ambiguity.
