nRF Connect v3.3.1 appimage in Ubuntu 18.04 no Apps

I am trying to get up and running with nRF Connect SDK for nRF52 on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS). I am following the guide and trying to use nRF Connect for Desktop to install the Getting Started Assistant.

I have downloaded the v3.3.1 nRF Connect appimage, set it to executable and run it. I get the application loading up but the Apps page is blank. If I go to the Settings page I can select Check for Updates but nothing happens.

No errors are shown in the terminal and no errors are shown in the developer tools console (Ctrl+Shift+I).

Not sure where to go from here?

  • Yeah, I could see that the link was broken. I will report it. It looks like 4.7-1 is not present anymore.

    Instead of running:

    wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/d/device-tree-compiler/device-tree-compiler_1.4.7-1_amd64.deb

Try to run (4.7-3 instead of 4.7-1):

    wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/d/device-tree-compiler/device-tree-compiler_1.4.7-3_amd64.deb

Remember to install the dependencies first:

Regarding the issues with the nRF Connect App, I will look into it. However,
the Getting Started Assistant is actually deprecated, and the recommended
approach for installing NCS on Linux is to use the guide in the NCS documentation.

    Best regards,
    Simon
