Programmer v1.4.1 cannot program nRF52840 app over USB DFU

I would like to program a nrf52840-Dongle with OpenThread's ot-ncp-ftd.hex image over USB DFU. After putting the device into bootloader by pressing the physical reset button, I fail on both Linux and Windows. With COVID-19 concerns, it is not feasible to go into the office to solder on headers for SWD programming.

Devices (multiple versions tested):

On Linux, the "Device Memory Layout" view never populates. I cannot write an image.

On windows, I can read device's memory layout, but the DFU write fails:

No, the only way to update/program the DFU bootloader is by programming it via USB DFU as described in the Revert to production bootloader in the Dongle Programming tutorial.
