Aiming for the fastest data rate.

I have a nrf24 transmitter and receiver that I want to set up for max speed. I have my SPI's both at max and I set the crf24 register to reflect 18db (was not sure how this affects speed) and  rate of 2mb. To confirm my data was received on the receiver end, I set up the transmitter RX address to be the same as the tx address (assuming auto ACK echos the data back?). What is the best way to know when data can be sent again? I assume I could check the RX_DR, or used the IRQ. I'm leaning towards the IRQ here. Also, I do plan to use the dynamic payload. Any advice, am I understanding this correctly?

You can pre-load payloads as long as STATUS register does not return TX_FULL (this can be done while a payload is transmitted). Make sure that you always handle IRQ, and for instance clear the interrupt source and toggle CE afterwards to send the packet that you have already pre-loaded.
