Adding FTDI chip to NRF52840

Hi, 

We are designing our custom board with NRF52840 , we need to add serial capabilities over USB. 

We were thinking about adding FTDI Chip ( FT232H ) connected to the USB I/F of NRF. 

Will I be able to use CDC ACM driver in this case for communication with the serial device on the other end ?

Would it not make more sense to just use one of the built in UART peripherals available in the nrf52840? The nrf52840 doesn't support USB Host mode so I'm not sure adding a FT232H in the way you mentioned will even work.

You should not need to do that.

Using nRF52840 existing USB interface and embed the CDC ACM driver functionality should get you there.
