Improve / increase range between nRF52840DK and custom peripheral attaching external antenna to DK?

Hello,

I receive measurement data from 12 peripherals (custom PCBs) with a nRF52840DK. But I need a little more range.

Quick fix I am hoping for: Attaching an external antenna with some extra gain to the nRF52840DK. This should improve TX and RX on this side and so should be able to increase range between DK and peripherals - correct?

I searched for some antennas I could buy easily on Mouser, would they all fit (connector type) and which should I prefer and why?

All finger's crossed.
