Improve / increase range between nRF52840DK and custom peripheral attaching external antenna to DK?

Hello,

I receive measurement data from 12 peripherals (custom PCBs) with a nRF52840DK. But I need a little more range.

Quick fix I am hoping for: Attaching an external antenna with some extra gain to the nRF52840DK. This should improve TX and RX on this side and so should be able to increase range between DK and peripherals - correct?

I searched for some antennas I could buy easily on Mouser, would they all fit (connector type) and which should I prefer and why?

Hi,

non of them are a direct fit, so you need to have cable: from SWF to X connector. Ex: SWF to SMA connector.

Can you share the results from your testing? Did you observe improvement in terms of range by connecting the external antenna as compared to +8db gain of the PCB antenna?
