Cellular Matching Network

Hey Nordic Team,

I'm in the midst of integration the nRF91. As with the nRF52 designs, less work was taken out of the RF design aspect because it has a built in balun. As for the nRF91, looks like a matching network is needed depending on the bands used. Is that assumption correct?

Is there any documentation/hardware guidance on the matching circuitry for the nRF9160?

Thanks!

  • Hi Jared,

The bands that you choose are based on the bands that are supported by the operator you're going to use, and therefore the bands that you're going to be certifying the product for. You should therefore use an antenna that will work in all of the selected bands. Yes, a matching network is therefore needed to match the antenna. That assumption is correct!

    best regards

    Jared
