nRF52832 and mobile App question

Hi,

We have a product that have a BLE capability (not by Nordic) and already have a mobile app that works with it.

I am developing now the FW for the upgraded version of the product using the nRF52832.

We need the new product FW to work with the mobile application without modifying it.

can I just add a BLE service running on not Nordic chip to the nRF52832 ?

Is that possible ? if yes how ?

Of course it is - that's the whole point of the BLE standardisation of the GATT Services & Characteristics!

(unless, of course, you're relying upon some specific feature that is not supported by Nordic)

Hi,

To identify what service I should use I have to search the UUID of the service used in the old product?

Cause every company call the services in different names right? like the nus service.

So when I figure out what UUID for service I should choose, then I should find what service Nordic has with that UUID right?

If I connect to there device from the nRF connect app.

Unknown service

UUID: 0BD51666-E7CB-469B-8E4D-2742F1BA77CC

Of course you did!

The Nordic app is only going to know about Standard UUIDs defined by the BT SIG, and UUIDs defined by Nordic - it is obviously not going to know about proprietary Services or Characteristics from unrelated 3rd parties!

But if you know the details of the Service, you can enter it into nRF Connect - just as if you were creating your own custom Service.

I think you need to read-up on the basics of BT Services, Characteristics, etc.
