What's the difference between S120 nRF51822 SoftDevice v1.0.1 and S120 nRF51 SoftDevice v2.0.0?

Besides the fact it's a later release?

i.e., why does one have "nRF51822" in the name and the other simply "nRF51" ? Is it because the former will only work on a 51822, while the latter will work on a 51422 as well as a 51822?

Will v2.0.0 work on a nRF51 DK (I'm assuming it will, as I believe the nRF51 DK has a 51422?)

  • Hi Mike,

To best know which ICs are working with which SoftDevices, you should have a look at the nRF51 series Compatibility Matrix available on MyPage.

All of our SoftDevices have been working on the nRF51422 so far, but the 51822 has not been able to run the ANT+ protocol. We realized this confusion and started naming our SoftDevices that will work on all nRF51-based chips with simply "nRF51".

The S120 2.0.0 should work on IC revisions 3, but might have problems on earlier revisions. To see what changed between 1.0.1 and 2.0.0, please refer to the release notes and the migration document.
