Issue with nRF Connect not communicating with nRF Logger on Android 10 (Q)

I am running nRF Connect on an Android smartphone (Pixel 3 XL running Android 10 (Q)) and see it detect nearby BLE beacons successfully. The application also shows the RSSI chart changing over time when I select it. I want to record that chart data using nRF Logger which I also installed on the Smartphone. However, nRF logger does not detect nRF Connect. If I select the hamburger menu, only the nRF Logger Welcome option is available.  Both Connect and Logger were downloaded from the Google Play Store.

nRF Connect = version 4.24.1

nRF Logger = version 1.8.1

Is there a problem running on Android 10? Are the versions above compatible with each other?

Please suggestion options to enable these two applications to work together.

  • Hi Roy,

In order to view logs on nRF Logger, you should be connected to the ble device. nRF Logger does not log chart data and only logs what's sent and received between the smart phone and the ble device. The reason why you don't see is because you have not connected to a device using nRF Connect and that there are no logs available from nRF Connect for a particular device. If you connect to a random ble device and go back to nRF Logger you should be able to see the logs for the particular device.

Although there is one more feature where you could long press on a device(s) in the nRF Connect Scanner tab and you may use the overflow menu on the Toolbar to log the information from that device to nRF Logger.

I just tested with Pixel 3XL running Android 10 and it shows the logs. Let us know if the above solution helps you.
