BT 5.1 capable chipset, same size as nRF52832

Hello there,

we have been using nRF52832 in our first production batch.

On the last electronica show in Munich I was told by one of your sales people that soon a new 5.1 capable chipset will be available in the same size (3mmx3mm) as nRF52832

The sales person pointed out that nRF52832 is also a 5.1 standard chipset but it does not have the extended range that one should expect from a BT 5.1 SoC

Can you please point out for me which of your SoC's has a real extended BT 5.1 range at the same size as nRF52832.

I am also interested in the availability of that new chipset because we would like to continue production soon.

Thanks in advance for your help

Peter

  • Hi,

Based on your description, I believe the sales person was talking about the nRF52833. It has the +8 dBm output power option, previously only available on Nordic’s flagship nRF52840.You can read the news release here. As stated at the end of the page, the nRF52833 SoC will be made available in three different packages: a 7x7 mm aQFN73 with 42 GPIOs, a 5x5 mm QFN40 with 18 GPIOs and a 3.2x3.2 mm wlCSP with 42 GPIOs. The 7x7 mm and 5x5 mm package has been in volume production since Q4 2019. The wlCSP package(NRF52833-CJAA) is going into volume production around this time (Q2 2020). The nRF52833 Product Specification can be found here.
