What is the point iof the NRF52840 High Voltage mode?

Hi,

This may be a simple question, but I've gone through the infocenter and am still a little confused. I'm designing a PCB on which I'd like to have an nrf52840 that can take power from a battery or a separate regulator tied to a desktop power supply.

As far as I can tell config 3 from the reference circuit page (https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fps_nrf52840%2Fref_circuitry.html&cp=3_0_0_6_2) should be fine for me - but I don't really understand what the VDDH pin is for and that nags at me. My current understanding is that VDDH can take higher supply voltages (in case your design limits you to higher voltages) and then also you can supply an output voltage from the chip (somehow?). Is that most of it?

Thanks,

Ryan
