nRF52840 Pre Development Kit

Hi,

Can i use nRF52840 Pre Development kit as a sniffer.

Also can i use it to program my customized PCB

Note: I need to do both of above urgently so i cannot wait to get the nRF52840-DK.

Pls suggest.

Hi,

The nRF52840 DK is supported by the nRF Sniffer. It may work with earlier versions (version number below 1.0.0) as well. What exact version of the nRF52840 PDK are we talking about? (Version number / time of production (year.week) should be printed on a sticker on the interface mcu on the board.)

It can be used to program other boards, yes, using the debug out port on the board. Please note that the license on the interface mcu programmer covers development, but not production.

Hi,

I am afraid I do not have those versions of the PDK at the moment, so I cannot check to see. The chip revision used on those PDK versions did have some RADIO related erratas that may impact the sniffer capabilities, and I am not sure if the sniffer firmware employs the required workarounds for those and potentially other issues found on the engineering revisions of the nRF52840 SoC. You may get it to work with the nRF Sniffer, or you may experience issues. Official nRF Sniffer support is from nRF52840 DK v1.0.0 onwards.
