Should I use the nRF5 SDK when developing for nRF52840 or should I use nRF Connect SDK?

Is it a better choice to use the NCS for nRF52840 development, given that it is the new platform going forward?  Am I painting myself into a corner developing with nRF5 SDK?  When will we see more examples for nRF52840 in NCS like are in nRF5 SDK?

Thanks!

  • Hi,

The nRF5 SDK is stable and will get maintainance/support when needed, so if you already have developed products using nRF5 SDK then there is no problem to continue with that. If you are starting developing new products, and for instance interested in the nRF53 and nRF91, then looking at the NCS is the solution for you. There will also be more examples for the nRF52840 for every NCS release.

    Best regards,
    Kenneth
