Unable to load firmware using nRF52840 DK using programmer v1.4.2 and nRF Connect v3.4.0

I've been using the nRF52840 DK to load the firmware into my custom nRF52840 board using nRF Connect v2.6.0 and programmer v1.0.2. 

However, on another laptop when I install nRF Connect 3.4.0 and it forces me to install v1.4.2 (anyway to downgrade this?) i get the ERROR HighLevel_probe_init with a long list of errors to ERROR HighLevel_reset: Failed resetting the device. 2020-06-11T18_05_48.752Z-log.txt

1) How do I install an older version of nrf programmer ? i downloaded the nrf connect v2.6.0 but when i want to install the programmer it forces me to use v1.4.2. 

2) How do I load the firmware using the latest nRF Connect and nRF programmer into my custom board? 

There is nothing wrong with the nRF52840 DK nor my custom boards as I am still able to load the firmware in with my old laptop running v2.6.0 with v1.0.2.

Hmm, I'll do some digging.

In the meantime I suggest you use the command line tool nrfjprog:

call 'nrfjprog -f nrf52 -e' to do an erase all of the flash and UICR.

call ' nrfjprog -f nrf52 --program your_hex_file.hex' to program the device.
